Hotels in the larger cities in Issan (Khon Kaen, Udon Thani) are quite adequate and making a reservation should present no problem whatsoever. If visiting a rural area of the northeast, finding a place to stay may present a challenge. Does Khonkaen.com provide online hotel booking? KhonKaen.com does not provide hotel bookings/reservations due to the time and costs involved along with the low profit margin. There are numerous other travel agencies who will happily book a room online and charge a traveler 3-4 times the normal walk-in rate. If a visitor wishes to book or reserve a room at a local hotel, KhonKaen.com recommends contacting the hotel directly via the contact information listed for the hotel. Questions on different types of accomodations and costs can normally be found on the KhonKaen.com Discussion Forum, and it is highly recommended that questions and requests for more information be presented there.

Hotel walk-in: For the adventurous traveller, this may be a good way to find a hotel room while visiting. Walking up to the check-in desk and inquiring about room availibilty is a good way to work out a bargain on room price. This of course depends on the hotel vacancy, room availabilty, season, and many other factors. A polite request for a discounted room to the desk manager will sometimes work to your benefit. It may also present problems if there are no rooms available due to conferences, college graduations, high tourist season, etc. A room is most definitely not guaranteed if you choose to find accomodations via this means, travel at your own risk!
