Phu Kradueng National Park (อุทยานแห่งชาติภูกระดึง), located in Loei Province, is one of Thailand’s most beloved highland escapes. Known for its cool climate, dramatic cliffs, and expansive summit plateau, it offers a refreshing contrast to the lowland tropics.
🥾 Trail to the Summit Plateau
The journey begins with a 5.5 km ascent from the park entrance to the top of the mesa. Visitors are typically allowed to begin the hike to the summit between 0600 and 1300, so arriving early is highly recommended (Operating hours listed may vary for a variety of reasons. Please check with the park for current daily hours).
Most visitors stay overnight at the summit to explore further trails and viewpoints.

The park transitions from dipterocarp forest to pine and hill evergreen zones. Wildlife includes:
Sambar deer, wild boars, golden jackals
Birdlife: Great hornbills, red-headed trogons, and more
🌌 Camping & Stargazing
Camping gear and bedding supplues are available for rent. The high elevation and low light pollution make it ideal for stargazing.
🚫 Seasonal Closure
The park is closed June 1 – September 30 due to monsoon conditions and trail safety concerns.
